REAL LIFE COVER EXAMPLE
Mandy, who worked at a manufacturing plant for textile products made an appointment with her GP as she was suffering from backpain, she thought it was most likely due to her employment role as she was required to stand as part of an assembly line for 30 hours a week on average. The GP referred her to a specialist and Mandy was unfortunately diagnosed with bowel cancer, and had to undergo an intensive course of chemotherapy.
The type of cancer Mandy had meant that under her Critical Illness cover she received a lump sum payment of $35,000. The money allowed Mandy and her husband to jointly take time off work to focus on her treatment and recovery. Mandy now swears by Critical Illness cover, and has become a huge advocate at her place of employment for group insurance benefits, as she felt the true value of the covers in place.
