Covers Available

Life Insurance cover can be selected on its own. Critical Illness Insurance, Income Protection Insurance, and/or both can only be selected if taken with Life Insurance.

This policy provides a tax free lump sum benefit in the event of death. Cover ceases at age 70, whilst a member of the plan. Built into the life cover is a terminal illness benefit. There is an advance payment of the life cover in the event the member is medically diagnosed not to live beyond 12 months.

Minimum cover is a multiple of three times your annual salary.

This policy provides a monthly benefit (taxable) if you are temporarily or permanently disabled through sickness or accident. Cover ceases at age 65, whilst a member of the plan.

Cover is 75% of your annual base salary, with a 13 week wait period and payment period up to 5 years.

This policy provides a tax free lump sum payment on medical diagnosis of one of the medical conditions listed on the policy. Cover ceases at age 65, whilst a member of the plan. Certain conditions will not be covered in the first 90 days of membership.

As this policy is an accelerated benefit, should a claim become payable under this policy, the life insurance cover will be reduced by the claim payment amount.

Minimum cover is $50,000.

Eligibility

These benefits are available to the following eligible Universities of New Zealand employees:

  • Permanent employees working a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • Aged between 16-70 years – Life Insurance
  • Aged 16-65 - Income Protection and Critical Illness Insurances

New Employees

Eligible new employees can apply online to join the plan within 75 days of starting, subject to six health questions.
